Chocolate Fudge Cake
So, I baked a Chocolate fudge cake! Yay! That means if I can do this, then anybody can. I won’t lie to you, my first attempt, I forgot to put the flour in the mix, instead putting in icing sugar?! What! I know. Then I added the flour, trying to save the cake, put it in the oven and it looked like a deflated souffle!
Then I attempted again! This time it turned out perfect which excited me to a very very high level, probably not a normal amount! Not only did my second attempt go a lot better, but I managed to salvage my first attempt a little, and I made chocolate fudge cake balls! So happy days! They’re not as dirty as they sound, don’t you worry!
175 grams of Self raising flour
2 tbsp Cocoa Powder (I used Highlights, Fudge Flavour)
1 tbsp Baking Powder
150 grams Caster Sugar
2 Eggs Beaten
150 ml (1/4 Pint) Sunflower Oil
150 ml (1/4) Semi Skimmed Milk
2 tbsp of Golden Syrup / Honey (I used Honey)
For the Coating & the Filling
75 grams unsalted butter
175 grams of Caster Sugar
3 tbsp Cocoa Powder (Again I used Highlights, Fudge Flavour)
Drop of Milk
and this is what your frosting/icing should look like…
and it tastes even better (written whilst licking it off a spoon) yum
So first off you mix the Flour, Cocoa powder, Baking powder, Caster Sugar and Mix it well. Make a well in the middle and add the Honey, 2 Eggs, Sunflower oil and Semi Skimmed milk. Use an electric whisk, or a normal one if you have the energy! Which I didn’t! I took the easy route! Pretty easy right?
Now, you put half of the mixture in a cake tin, I used a silicone one, but you can use any! Then stick it in the oven for 20-25 minutes. DO NOT open the oven door! Let it rise and bake then check on it after 20 minutes.
Whilst this is baking in the oven, you can start to clean up. hahaha no I’m kidding forget that, make your icing so you have enough time to lick it off the spoon until the cake is ready of course!
For the Icing, and the filling, put the Butter, Icing sugar, Cocoa Powder and a drop of milk, and whisk it together! Taste it, and see if you like the taste adding some more ingredients to your tasting, maybe you want a little extra choc powder? Have a taste and see!
Dancing my way through the whisking, whilst getting my clothes absolutely covered in ingredients. Well done wearing black beth, great decision making there!?! What was I thinking.
Here I am, presenting the mess. After a failed attempt, a lot of swearing, some emotional obstacles and I have done it! I baked the cake! I think I might leave the clearing up for a while..I am emotionally exhausted after that!
Anyway, lets get to the really fun part, the decorating! For the decorating I have, Reece’s cups, M&M’s, Salted Caramel Galaxy pieces & a Bueno! Sounds good right?
And now, drum roll….for the finished product! Here it is! I feel like giving myself a little pat on the back, because I’m super proud I stuck it out, after a failed attempt, and some hard work..Here’s the cake all dressed up and ready to go!
I hope you enjoyed this post, and give it a go yourself! Let me know how you liked it! Thanks for reading!
Feel free to leave some comments and let me know how it was, I love hearing you feeback 🙂
